Pennsylvania 2009 Budget Hall of Shame

The following players are in the 2009 Pennsylvania Budget Hall of Shame:

Governor Ed Rendell on why unpaid state workers are wrong to be upset:

"Most of those state workers - I've arranged for them to get a $15,000 loan with no interest, so if they are paying off $6,000 worth of credit debt at 14 percent, they should put a statue of me on their mantel place."

State Representative Phyllis Mundy, Democrat - Luzerne County:

"I am extremely frustrated that, based on the letters and emails that I am receiving, nobody in the general public seems to recognize the extreme nature of the disaster that we are facing with this state budget. The people just don't get it."

Democrat Policy Chairman Representative Mike Sturla:

"I don't care if we stand people on their heads and shake pennies from their pockets." (from 2007)

Campaign Asks Congress to ‘Pledge to Read’ Bills Before Voting on Them

Another reason Senator DeMint should chair the NRSC:

When asked by CNSNews.com who had signed the pledge so far, Hanna responded with the following:

“The first two were two whose paths I happened to cross last week. And they were Sen. (Jim) DeMint (R-S.C.) and Sen. (James) Inhofe (R-Okla.). Read more...

Cornyn Booed at Tea Party

Another reason Senator Cornyn should not be NRSC Chairman. From the story:

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn drew boos from a crowd outside the Texas Capitol this afternoon as he spoke at a “tea party” rally organized by the Texas office of Americans for Prosperity.

Cornyn was booed at the start and close of his remarks, which assailed actions in Washington; there were no boos while he awarded a Purple Heart to a Copperas Cove resident injured in Iraq in 2006.

“You’re the problem,” a crowd member hollered. Read more....
